QDS was established in 2012 as a one-stop Dental Equipment Servicer and Repairer.  In 2014 QDS was successful in winning the Queensland Health contract to service and maintain all Queensland Health Oral Health equipment in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, West Moreton, Darling Downs and Western Queensland.  Since then, QDS has grown to a team of 9 servicing Queensland Health dental facilities, Queensland universtiy facilities and private dentists across South East Queensland, Darling Downs, Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.  

QDS are the preferred installers for all A-dec equipment at Queensland Health facilities as well as providing installation services for A-dec for the Australian Defence Force and various Queensland universities.  

QDS has recently become the Carestream Dental technical partner responsible for the service and maintenance of all Carestream extra-oral x-ray imaging equipment in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.  

Our People

Our team of qualified technicians has over 100 years combined experience with oral health equipment and facilities in Australia.  This knowledge is invaluable in getting the work done efficiently and to demanding standards.

At the same time, the adoption of our efficient approach allows paper work to be streamlined and barriers to efficient service delivery eliminated.  Our staff, for example, work out-of-hours where necessary as part of the service and value culture of QDS.

Our team has extensive knowledge and experience in a wide range of dental equipment used in Queensland and Northern NSW dental facilities and have undertaken training both in Australia and directly with manufacturers overseas. 

For our customers this experience means:

• Quality servicing to manufacturer standards, avoiding costly over-servicing and failures from under-servicing

Management team

Ian colley 

Technicians

Our technicians are certified electrical fitter mechanics or hold restricted electrical licences, ensuring that all equipment meets electrical standard AS3551 for patient treatment and AS3760 for electrical tag and test.  The team is accredited to perform compliance testing on intra-oral x-ray equipment and hold the following licences:

• QLD and NSW Health Radiation Use Licences for Testing X-Ray Equipment
• QLD Health Radiation Accreditation Licences for Compliance Testing

Our technicians attend extensive manufacturer training ensuring the team has relevant up to date knowledge on all equipment we maintain. Three of our staff have been trained by A-dec in the USA and, due to our experience and knowledge, have been chosen by A-dec to perform the installations of all South East and Western Queensland Health equipment as well as Australian Defence Force and Queensland Government institutions such as Griffith University.

We are qualified to provide breakdown, calibration and validation of Dental Sterilisers to AS4815 and AS4187 standards.  

We have recently been appointed by Carestream Dental to be the sole authorised Carestream service agent for Queensland and Northern New South Wales, including both intra-oral and extra-oral x-ray imaging equipment.

Derek McNabb

Experienced Biomedical Technician with 8 years oral health equipment service and maintenance experience.  

Derek has been with QDS since 2013.  Prior to working in the oral health industry, Derek was an electronics technician with the Australian Defence Force, which included multiple tours to Afghanistan where ensuring a job was performed correctly was critical to the safety of the troops.  Derek continues this dedication to quality and professional service at QDS by performing work to the highest level of client satisfaction. 

Derek specialty is in extra-oral OPG x-ray imaging equipment and he is primarily responsible for the servicing and maintenance of OPG's for the whole of Queensland for Carestream Dental.   

Personal Interests: Physical fitness pursuits and spending time with his young family.

Corey Semenowicz

Corey is an experienced biomedical technician with 4 years in the oral health industry.  Corey joined the QDS team in 2017, servicing and maintaining oral health equipment primarily on the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales.  Corey specialises in providing breakdown repair, calibration and validation of Dental Sterilisers to AS4815 and AS4187 standards.

Personal Interests: Motocross Racing, renovating his house, surfing, camping with family and walking his dog, Roufus, on the beach.

Kym Wright

Kym joined QDS in January 2019 as an experienced biomedical technician after 18 years working in electromechanical engineering roles including with the Australian Defence Force and in private and public hospitals.  Kym specialises in the servicing and certification of suction motors and compressors.  

Personal interests include camping and camel race spectating.

Garry Gray

Garry has been with QDS since its inception in 2012 and is responsible for the repair and maintenance of handpieces and other workshop jobs.

Personal interests include travelling with his wife and fishing.  

Daniel wallis

Daniel joined QDS in October 2019 and is responsible for the servicing and maintenance of Carestream Dental OPG extra-oral x-ray machines. 

administration team

We have a team of three in our Office Administration team to ensure all functions, including scheduling of work, purchasing of parts and invoicing runs smoothly. 

Robyn schumann

Robyn has been with QDS since its inception in 2012 as our Office Manager.  Robyn is an experienced Chartered Accountant responsible for the accounting function, quality assurance and human resource management.  

Kate Clark

Kate has been with QDS since 2017 as our Administration Officer responsible for systems administration, processing of work orders and planned maintenance and procurement of parts and consumables.  Kate works closely with our customers in the placement of product orders as well invoicing of work.
